Assessment guidance for Transactional Website analysis

This is directly from the specification

To be eligible for Mark Band 3, learners must have selected a site to

investigate without any prompting and produced a comprehensive description

of the site’s design, using well-chosen illustrations. Learners must also have

fully evaluated each of the features described, as well as the effectiveness of

the site as whole, considering both strengths and weaknesses.

For full marks in this band, learners will have demonstrated that they are

discerning consumers, who can look beyond the obvious features of a

transactional website and understand what the designer is trying to achieve.

They will have commented on the ‘customer experience’ and have made

some suggestions for improvements/enhancements.

Techniques for enticing and engaging customers

Here are some interesting techniques:

Check to see if your company uses anything similar or for the same purpose, and add it to your write up.

Transactional website analysis

Hello you should be working on this section today and UPLOADING any notes to your blog!

Also upload a brief summary of what you have done in the lesson.

If this does not happen today I will be setting up detentions on Weds Lunchtime!

Your marks for the blogs

Please note that some of you are not keeping your blogs up to date!

Abi yours was last updated at the end of November.

Steph and Natasha yours were updated regularly well done.

I want to see everyone getting a green square for their next piece of work on the blogs next Monday 10/12/07.

And next week I want to see the blogs updated everytime you have a lesson.

All it takes is a copy and paste!

Topics to cover for the transactional website

Make sure that you have work for all of these sections:
See the exemplar for the sort of things to write and the length needed and number of screen shots.
But don't copy anything especially if you are working on Amazon as well!  I will be checking!

Using your blogs to keep a diary

All students can you make sure that you update your diary every time you do some research or work on your eportfolio.

Put notes and also any relevant information about what you have been working on on your blog.

This keeps me and Miss Edmunds up to date.  We are using the blogs to monitor your progress and check on your work.

Remember to plan out the coursework see pages 132 - 139 in the coursework.

Also check the exemplar coursework for ideas about how to structure this.

You are expected to have completed the analysis of the transactional site by Wed 19/12/07 to be given in as pdf to Mr Highmore or Miss Edmunds.

Animation using Fireworks

Fireworks allows you to animate objects and then save As , Animated Gif to insert in a web page, this will add another type of multimedia to your project that is Animation!!

In Fireworks click on Modify, Animate, Selection and then move the object as required.  You can then Save As to Animated Gif and see the result.

This should be attempted for the information age eportfolio!

Editing audio using audacity

See the y12 folder on the network and find the Audacity Portable folder, you can copy this to your pen drive or use the version via the network.  This program allows you to open mp3 podcasts and then edit them to a shorter version for use with your eportfolio.

Please note that using audio/video in your eportfolio is regarded as essential for A grade work.

How to download a youtube video for the information age project

Go to youtube, copy the address of the video then use this site, http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/

Then open the downloaded file using VLC from http://www.videolan.org/  to check it is ok, or use Flash 8 in school.

With Flash 8 you can then export the file to a movie format for use in your eportfolio!

Not very easy but worth it in the end, as you get more marks for adding sound and video to your eportfolio.

Shift happens video

Some interesting info, you might want to use some of it in your project work

Here's an updated version
